A graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Drummond, 45, has been painting for more than 20 years.Self-taught, he has explored, emulated and absorbed the styles of contemporary artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Francis Bacon, and Clive Barker, developing his own voice which he expresses through accentuating the natural beauty and grain of wood with color.Drummond works with acrylics, stains, dyes, oils, and natural materials.
Dr. Drummond arrived on the local Savannah scene in June 2008.After 14 years as Director of Emergency Services at a busy 24-hour veterinary clinic in Los Angeles, Drummond had no desire to work for the big conglomerate that had abruptly purchased the thriving private practice. His dislike for medicine corporate style served not only as the spark for a job change but got Drummond thinking that a change in scenery might be in order as well.
Fond recollections of a visit to Savannah some ten years earlier still resonated with Drummond.Without a moment’s hesitation he knew where he would soon call home.Resignation tendered, good-byes made, house sold, Subaru packed, his Doberman Lydia at his side, Drummond headed east.
Dr. Drummond has wasted little time building a new life in Savannah. He settled into an 1854 townhouse in the Historic District and found his new professional home at Central Animal Hospital in the Starland District. In May, he tackled the role of Kanaka, King Of the Surfers, in The Little Theater of Savannah’s production of Psycho Beach Party. He might even blushingly confess that he found love among the hubbub and craziness of his first St. Patrick’s Day celebration! At 6 feet 6 inches tall, Buck Drummond is no stranger to making an entrance. For more information please contact Michael Dudich at (912) 401-7025 or michaeldudich@aol.com
